Fight poverty: invest in children
Governments must take action to protect vulnerable children by channelling resources to children, families and communities. For millions of children throughout the world, poverty means more than simply not having enough money. It means not being able to control their lives, being vulnerable to the will of others, and demeaning themselves to make ends meet. Above all, it means not having the opportunity to make a better life in the future. Governments must ensure a significant increase in the level of quality and untied aid given to countries fighting poverty. Those countries must develop and enforce a supportive legislative and policy framework for children. We must fight together to eradicate child poverty, because only by investing in children can we break the cycle of poverty. And only then will there be real hope for the future.
