Meeting of Executive Managerial Group (EMG) of the African Movement of Working Children and Youth (AMWCY) concluded
20th July West and Central Africa - From 5th to 7th of July
All participants worked in groups to establish how to achieve the program objectives, and who should take the lead on the agreed activities including: reinforcement of the WCY capacities in counseling, listening and mediation to enable them to prevent and better respond to children’s rights violations; better communication within the AMWCY; extension of the associations’ actions in the rural areas; advocacy amongst the authorities, partners etc.; capacity reinforcement of the young facilitators of the AMWCY by addressing key issues using participatory methods adapted to children.
From 8th to 14th June, EMG members held another meeting in Enda office. This meeting was centered on the movement activities, such as biannual budget for the AMWCY activities, training and IT equipment requirement per country, supporting documents, invoices and proformas of the countries, and approval of the quarterly movement activities report.
On the 9th , EMG members received the visit of the Regional Counselor of Save the Children Sweden, Mr. Enyon Gbedema. On the 12th , they talked to Manuel Finelli from Save the Children Finland about the funding of the above mentioned project in West Africa. On the 13th , they received the visit of Mr. Mansour Ndiaye of Plan, with whom they discussed about a project about education for girls to be submitted to Plan Holland. Finally they talked with Mr. Ousmane Raymond Seye, Director of Partners Senegal for Democratic Change, on how he and his Cabinet could help reinforcing AMWCY capacities.For more information, please consult the communique.
