From classrooms to open fields
Plan Bangladesh along with BRAC and World Vision involved 620,000 children, adolescent and adults in Lesson for Life events on World AIDS Day 2004. This day was observed by organizing lessons in classrooms, open fields and workplaces, children performance, rally, cultural programme, open air film show, courtyard meeting e.t.c.
Besides these activities, the coalition informed the country population at large by publishing messages on AIDS in major three daily newspapers in Bangladesh on three consecutive days. A TV talk show on the Lesson for Life was broadcasted with the active participation of Government, NGO network and development partners. On this occasion the coalition developed, published and distributed 50,000 posters and 700,000 pocket information card on HIV/AIDS in Bengali. In Bangladesh recognition that HIV/AIDs exist and must be addressed is essential – Lesson for Life and its associated programmes have contributed in opening up previously ignored forums to make public the problem of HIV/AIDS.
