Global Day of Action on the Financial Transaction Tax

This year on 22 June the Global Day of Action on the Financial Transaction Tax (FTT) is taking place in many places around the world
The day takes place between the EU Finance ministers meeting on the 15 June and the European Council on 23-24 June. It’s a key moment to influence decision makers ahead of the G20 in November.
The Financial Transaction Tax ia a realistic proposition considered by the IMF, the European Commission, the G20 and a number of national governments. This is an extraordinary turn around, in no small part due to the campaigning efforts of civil society organisations around the world.
Supported by economists, politicians and civil society organisations from around the world, the tax is expected to ensure fairer income distribution and help lift millions of people out of poverty. The tax is hoped to be implemented globally, regionally or unilaterally by individual nations.
Campaign offers various forms of involvement including:
- Media stunt - coverage in national media
- Online conversations - an online element to mobilize campaing’s suporter either through social networks such as twitter and facebook, or via email communications
- Petition
- Website widgets
