The Team
Miquel de Paladella has led the GMC as the Executive Coordinator since 2003 having been employed by Plan International in London, UNICEF Headquarters in New York and is now headquartered in Barcelona. Miquel is an economist with broad international development experience having worked in the field for 18 years. Before the GMC he worked as Director for Resource Development and Management for the Society for International Development in Rome and was Vicepresident for External Relations for AIESEC International. Miquel was chosen the first Youth Ambassador for Sustainable Human Development by UNDP in 1994 and has written extensively on development, education and child rights. A father of three, Miquel is a committed volunteer in a number of social projects. He speaks fluent English, French, Italian, Spanish and Catalan.
Biel Freixinet joined the GMC as Administratice Officer to be in charge of the administrative dynamics and organizing the logistics of events, conferences and activities of the Global Secretariat. He is also responsible for security in the office and data protection.Barcelona-born, Biel has previously worked as administrative officer for the Catalan Agency for Certifications, and in the tourism and events industry. He is about to finish his degree in Tourist Industry Management. A fluent English-speaker, Biel spent his senior year in high school in the US.
Noemí Mas is the Communications Manager at the GMC and is in charge of implementing the internal and external communications strategy of the organization. A trained conference interpreter, Noemí began her career in communications at the International Council for Human Rights in Brussels and continued as Communications Manager at the Sports Group of European Former Players Associations based in Barcelona. A Catalan native speaker, Noemí speaks fluent English, French, Portuguese and Spanish and has intermediate level in German.
Wojtek Solak is the Communications Officer at the GMC. His main responsibilities include managing the website and supporting the campaigns. Prior to his employment in the GMC he worked as a professor’s assistant at Grand Valley State University (USA). He holds a Masters Degree in NGO Management from the Grand Valley State University and a Masters in International Relations from the University of Cracow. Wojtek is Polish and speaks fluent English and has good knowledge of Spanish and German.
