Targets and indicators
Periodic assessment of progress is essential for positioning countries on their road to 2015 deadline. Monitoring progress constitutes the basis for the policy-makers. Plans they draft account for the lost time and ensure that no more opportunities are missed in the future. Targets and indicators are essential elements of monitoring the progress. Each goal consists of at least one target. To each target there is a few indicators attributed.
To achieve the MDGs countries need to take holistic approach. The goals are interrelated and thus comprehensiveness is required, especially now when the recent economic crisis makes the achievement of the MDGs even more challenging.
