Esta investigación presentada por Naciones Unidas en el 2006 revelaba la preocupante situación de los países de la región sobre el tema, a la vez de presentar recomendaciones a los Estados para lograr una prevención efectiva. Port-au-Prince, Haiti, 8 April 2011 – Reconstructing damaged or destroyed schools has been a UNICEF priority since last year's earthquake. It's one of the most effective ways of reintroducing normalcy to the shattered lives of children in this small Caribbean nation. Classes resumed at St. Gerard School last April with students crowding on to the stairs of an amphitheatre-like ad-hoc structure in one part of the schoolyard. Latin America, 30 March 2011 - After a year of leading Plan International stepped down from the position of Latin American and Caribbean Chapter (MMI-CLAC) coordinator paving the way for the new member to take over. UNICEF has been chosen to take the steer of the chapter for the year 2011. The lead change has been announced at the Chapter’s last meeting held in Paraguay.
